Wikipedia page content not highlightable when 'Modern for Wikipedia' chrome extension installed

  1. Which browser, operating system and versions of those are you using?

Arc (chromium)

  1. Which version of Memex are you running?

Not sure how to figure this out? I’m using the Chrome extension which presumably self-updates.

  1. What are the steps you took that lead to the bug?

  • Install Modern for Wikipedia

  • Visit any wikipedia page

  • Make a selection

  • Hit the memex highlight button that appears under the selection

  • No highlight is made

  • Uninstall / disable 'Modern for Wikipedia

  • Make a highlight (it should work)

  • Reinstall / enable ‘Modern for Wikipedia’

  • The highlight should be visible on the page.

Seems like ‘Modern for Wikipedia’ is interfering with Memex somehow?

Hey Ben,

i suspect that Modern is doing something with the DOM, potentially some dynamic render that makes it difficult to extract the text and anchor highlights in it.

Unfortunately currently no time to fix this. :frowning:
