"Migration" from tags to "spaces" makes loads of duplicates

To get your bug fixed faster please try to answer the following questions:

  1. Which browser, operating system and versions of those are you using?
    Chromium
  2. Which version of Memex are you running?
    3.2.22
  3. What are the steps you took that lead to the bug?
    Automatic - the upgrade

The issue:
I have loads of duplicates

What am I supposed to do? When I search for a space “tag” to use, I have duplicates and no clue if each duplicate will actually categorise it differently, i.e will duplicate space tags show me different things when it comes to filtering?

How many devices did you have synced?

I recommend just using any for now, we are implementing a fix that merges them!

Maybe 2 PC’s and a mobile?

Alrighty.

We implemented a fix in 3.2.24.

If you are running on Firefox you can already update it. Chrome will be live tomorrow prob.
Then you need to go to the background console and type in the command ___removeDupeSpaces()

You can reach the console by:

  1. Firefox:
    • go to about:addons
    • click the settings icon and go to > debug addons
    • click on “inspect” on Memex
    • go to “console” tab and enter the command
  2. Chrome:
    • go to chrome://extensions
    • enable developer mode
    • go to Memex > Details > background page
    • go to “Console” tab and type in command

It may be that if you have a lot of data that it maybe crashes.
If that is so let us know so we implement another fix for that. We didn’t want to unnecessarily implement that optimisation right now.

Sorry for the late reply.
I gave it a try and I get this error:

— Edit:
After posting the screenshot more errors were shown in the console and I saved a .log file of the output, but I can’t upload .log files here.
It does seem to have removed a lot of duplicate tag/spaces, but I am not sure if it’s finished with the displayed errors.
