Memex Go keeps crashing while paring

To get your bug fixed faster please try to answer the following questions:

  1. Which browser, operating system and versions of those are you using?

Brave on MacOS

  1. What are the steps you took that lead to the bug?
  1. Removed all previous pairings in browser
  2. Started pairing on iPhone with Memex Go
  3. Scanned QR code
  4. Syncing started, progress bar kept updating until 12% (first time) and 36% (second time) - and then Memex Go just crashed.

I donā€™t have a long history of Memex content. But still it took some 30+ sec to reach even 36%.
Strangeā€¦ Why isnā€™t iCloud used for async syncing, why does the app need to be kept open during sync?:thinking:

Did the bug appear for you the first time trying to pair already?

Does it crash completely or show an error screen?
Which iOS version are you using?

The app was already installed on my iPhone.

It crashes w/o an error screen.

iOS 13.3.1

What happens if you uninstall and reinstall the app? Any changes in behaviour?
How much data do you have in your Memex extension?

At which step of the sync does it crash 1/2 or 2/2?

Reinstalled app. Tried to sync. But no QR is generated in browser on desktop :frowning: Itā€™s spinning and spinning and spinningā€¦

There is a known bug, you can solve this by going to brave://Extensions > Memex > background page > application > localstorage

There you find an entry that is something with Firebaseā€¦ and the value is ā€œtrueā€.
Delete the whole entry, reload the page with the QR code and then it should work.

Will be fixed with the new release!
