Data lost after reinstalling extention

To get your bug fixed faster please try to answer the following questions:

  3. What are the steps you took that lead to the bug?
    Removed memex extension
    installed it
    Logged in with my email which it detected as a new email and asked me to create a password

It seems as if you didnā€™t do your data migration to the new cloud, or backed up your data.
Previously Memex was a fully offline-first product but since October 11 we offered a cloud backup, which is automatically happening for new users.
Dependent on since when you started using Memex, it was not automatically done, but needed proactive action from you.
We pointed this out in several places in the interface and via the emails we sent around.
I am sorry that you may have lost your data. These are the downsides of having local first data we wanted to counter. There is nothing worse than data loss.

If you have a backup of your hard drive it would be recoverable.
If so let me know and happy to assist you in recovering that data.

Iā€™ve been using memex for some time but I didnā€™t know about the update. Fortunately, most of the data were synced to Readwise so I was able to get them back.
