Can't search Google for anything starting with "m" in the url/search bar

To get your bug fixed faster please try to answer the following questions:

  1. Which browser, operating system and versions of those are you using?
    Chrome: 90.0.4430.93
    MacOS: 0.15.7

  2. Which version of Memex are you running?
    2.17.4

  3. What are the steps you took that lead to the bug?
If I enter “m” in the search bar, it immediately switches to the memex search engine, which means I can’t do a Google search for anything starting with “m”. Most other search engines don’t get activated until you hit a , so it seems odd that the memex one triggers immediately.

Thanks @danimal to bring this up.

I tested this on MacOS 11.2 and Chrome 90.0.4430.212
Oddly enough i can’t reproduce as the implementation is that you have to press m and then space bar to activate the search, but in Chrome that also does not work at all anymore. It triggers the Memex search, but as soon as I search, it just does the regular google search. I didn’t notice because I usually use Brave and there it works.

Can you confirm that you don’t use the space bar after you press m for the search?

Thanks!
